Description:
CPT® 98943 is used for chiropractic manipulation of one or two spinal regions to correct subluxation or restore normal joint function. This procedure is commonly performed to address musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, or restricted range of motion, and may include manual adjustments or other chiropractic techniques.

When to Use:

  • Patients present with musculoskeletal discomfort, limited mobility, or spinal subluxations affecting one or two regions.
  • Manipulation is performed as part of a conservative treatment plan to improve function and reduce pain.
  • Can be used for ongoing maintenance care or acute symptom management.

Requirements for Billing:

  • Performed by a licensed chiropractor or provider authorized to perform spinal manipulation.

  • Only one unit is billed for manipulation of one or two spinal regions; additional regions require separate coding.
